Whoa! It is scary to try something new! But, I hope, good.
What new things have you tried lately? Let me know in the comments! P.S. The glass hearted blobbily spirit seen in the video is available here: http://www.dailypaintworks.com/fineart/aee-miller/daily-study-147/469298 6 inches by 4 inches watercolor on slightly tinted watercolor paper The first purple iris of the season - painted on Mother's Day.
This study was painted intuitively with no starting sketch. The watercolors literally sparkle and shine, as summer sky-blue melts into velvety violet. I used genuine amethyst pigment, in the hope of capturing the lush feeling of iris petals. The sparkle is not immediately obvious, but winks at you the more you study the painting. Sweeping, dancing strokes give the impression of moving leaves in the spring breeze. And dropping yellow into blue-green paint created the crisp effect of a dark line curling around and hugging the spring green stem, creating a sense of balance. When I asked for feedback on which painting I should offer for auction, this one received some of the most votes. |
